My partner’s career brought me to Sin City. My education continued online and my IT career started at Nevada Beverage managing their desktops and server backups.
In order to finish my degree, I needed to attend classes in Utah, but my partner needed to be in Vegas. I put 40k miles on an old Camry in less than a year, attending classes at UVU, working on-campus, and driving home to Vegas on the weekend.
Worked at a national title company supporting the Nevada region offices for all IT needs.
Joined University of Nevada, Las Vegas to work in their NOC and manage their servers. Specialized in Splunk application management and used Splunk to solve clients’ needs at UNLV.
With the itch to continue my learning, and gain skills beyond IT operations, I enrolled in The Iron Yard - Las Vegas in their full stack program. 16 grueling weeks of coding web apps and working on teams.
Currently working with The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Union as a software developer. I help maintain and build new features for internal scheduling and class management. Utilize Java, Javascript, PostgreSQL, Apache Struts, Jasper Reports, and other technologies to make this happen.
